Album Hair opened on Queen Street East in Leslieville in 2018. The salon was founded by Dat Tran, a hair colourist who trained internationally before settling in Toronto’s east end. The idea behind Album Hair was straightforward: a focused, no-frills salon where colour work is taken seriously, the environment feels personal, and clients leave with exactly what they came in for.
We’re not a large chain. We’re a small, tight-knit team working out of one location — which means every client gets our full attention, every time.
Dat Tran — Founder & Colour Specialist
Dat has spent his career refining the kind of colour work that looks effortless but takes real skill to execute: balayage that grows out naturally, tones that hold without going brassy, and lightening techniques that protect the hair while delivering the result. He works with all hair types and textures — including curly, coily, and chemically treated hair that many colourists struggle with.
What sets Dat apart is his approach to consultations. He listens first. He asks about your lifestyle, your maintenance tolerance, your history with colour. Then he gives you an honest assessment of what’s achievable and maps a path to get there — even if it takes more than one visit.

Our team has experience across haircuts, colour services, bridal styling, and treatment work — and they bring that experience to every appointment, whether it’s a quick trim or a full colour transformation.
We keep the team small intentionally. It means we can maintain a high standard of work, build real relationships with our clients, and stay current with techniques without cutting corners.

Our Approach

And we’re honest with clients about what’s realistic for their hair, because we’d rather set the right expectation than overpromise and underdeliver.

Album Hair is located at 639 Queen Street East in Leslieville, Toronto. We’re open Tuesday through Friday 10am–8pm and Saturday 9am–6pm. Walk-ins are welcome when space allows, but we recommend booking in advance — especially for colour services.
